K.O.L. Radio is happy to welcome back from São Paulo, Brazil, DJ Paulão Brazuca! Owner of the Patua Discos label and record store, he’s been a major DJ in Brazil for more than 20 years, released the multi-volume Brazuca! compilation, and even hosts several radio shows. For today’s mix made specially for K.O.L., he introduces some of the songs representing the Samba-Rock movement, born in São Paulo out of the house party scene in mainly Black Brazilian neighborhoods. It became a wide ranging culture, heavily influenced by DJ culture and dance routines, but one that incorporated many Brazilian musical styles during the flourishing 1960s counter-culture, all the way up to the present.
