Author and music journalist John Potter is back with a diverse and deep mix of music from the Basque Country! One of the oldest languages in Europe with a distinct culture, the Basque people also produce a lot of music, ranging from traditional folk using the Trikiti accordion, to contemporary Rock. John helped to organize the Basque Ryukyu Project in 2018 bringing together musicians to play and record in Okinawa, and since then has deeply explored Basque music. This special mix from John presents Basque music in all its vibrant and alive forms.
今回は、沖縄在住の音楽ジャーナリスト、ジョン・ポッターさんによるミックスをお送りします。バスク語で「エウスカル・エリア」と呼ばれるバスク地方の音楽を紹介してくれました。
スペインとフランスにまたがるバスク地方の人々は、ヨーロッパで最も古い独自の言語を持ち、ヨーロッパの他の地域とは文化的に異なっています。
ジョンさんは、2018年にバスクのミュージシャンであるミケル・ウルダンガリンを5週間にわたって沖縄で受け入れ、コンサートや沖縄のミュージシャンとのコラボレーションを行う「バスク琉球プロジェクト」の開催に協力したことで、バスク音楽への愛情をさらに深めました。
今回のミックスでは、主にそんなバスクの3つジャンルを紹介してくれています。アコーディオンやタンバリンを使ったルーツベースの音楽、シンガーソングライターによる文学的な歌、そしてロックバンドの楽曲が収録されています。
