Mitsuco Delight! She is a DJ, vinyl collector,and event organizer in Tokyo, including the regular event DIGITAL HIGH LIFE at Zubar in Shibuya. A self-describred ‘otaku’, Mitsuco loves production music from library recordings, video game soundtracks and novelty records.
In this mix, she is presenting some jazz library gems. ‘‘Library records’ are instrumental cuts originally intended for use in TV ads, public information films, documentaries and kids shows in the 1960s and 70s. Many of these records were heard by kids who then grew up to be DJs and producers, who found many deep grooves and breaks they wanted to raid.
Mitsuco presents a wide range of tracks from the dreamy sounds of Basil Kirchin, to the punchy big band of Syd Dale to some heavy Latin grooves. It’s a carefully crafted Jazz soundtrack to an imaginary film, all taken from the huge record collection of Mitsuco Delight.
