In 1998 in Tokyo the DJ event [SEARCHING] started, inspired by the rare groove collections of worldwide DJ’s like DJ Shadow, Mark ‘Butch’ Dobson, Keb Darge, Dante Carfagna, Ian Wright, Jazzman Gerald and others. These nights became very popular, creating a whole new generation of Rare Groove fans in Japan, who then created their own events around the entire country. The 45’s in this mix were chosen as a representation of the 45 DJ culture in Japan that developed since the 1990s.
